The 2002 Northwest Vintage Speedsters Labor Day weekend endurance run was held in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley of western Montana. Our hosts were Rattler and Friday Olsen and the Stuck-In-The-Mud Gang. Headquarters for the event was the Holiday Inn Express in Hamilton. Hamilton is located 47 miles south of Missoula on U.S. Highway 93. |
Registration,
safety inspections, entrant photos and an evening barbecue were the activities

Sunday, September 1st was the big day for the 200 mile endurance run. The green flag dropped at 8:00 a.m. sharp. The first 25 cars departed at this time. The second group of cars left at 8:05. A total of 48 cars were signed up for the run. Each of the next group of thumbnail images will take you to a page of photos of the endurance run. |
There
were tours scheduled for the three days that followed the endurance run.
The first tour went to Shoup, Idaho on Monday, September 2nd. Click on

The tour on Tuesday went to Wisdom, Montana. We drove south on U.S. Highway 93 as we did on the tour to Shoup. When we reached the top of Lost Trail Pass we headed east to Wisdom. A few miles before we got to Wisdom we passed the Big Hole National Battlefield. Each of the thumbnail images below will take you to a page of photos taken on that day. |
The final day of touring went to Phillipsburg, Montana on Wednesday, September 4th. The route we took was east on State Highway 38 which is also known as the Skalkaho Highway. Click on the thumbnail image below to go to a page of photos taken on that day. |
