These pictures of Art's speedster were taken at Prineville, Oregon on Memorial Day weekend in 1998. It has been nine months since pictures of the car were taken when it was just rolling chassis with a partially complete body on it. |
This speedster is powered by a 1923 Buick four cylinder engine. The frame is 1923 Buick. The front axle, brakes and steering are 1946 Chevrolet. The rear axle is 1931 Chevrolet. |
Art says the 1946 Chevrolet pickup steering makes this a very easy and enjoyable car to drive. The other shift lever is for a Ruckstell overdrive unit. |
The
event that Art particpated in was the Northwest Vintage Speedsters Devil's
Oven 200 mile endurance run. The course was made up of four 50 mile loops
on roads around Prineville. There were several miles of dirt roads. Art
and his navigator covered the entire route closest to the pre-determined
time which gave them the honor of first place. Not bad for the first time
out in a new car.
