Steve's
speedster was on display at a speed equipment workshop that he hosted in
February 2000.
The 1928 Model A frame has numerous modifications to it. It has been extended 24" in front of the front cross member and a new spring perch has been mounted. A Model A radiator that has been shortened 2" will go behind the heart-shaped grill opening. The engine and center cross member have been moved back 10". A Riley Two-Port equipped Model B engine will drive a 1939 transmission with Lincoln Zephyr gears.The rear axle has been moved forward 18". The drive shaft is now 23" long. The rear axle has a 1939 quick change center section in it. |
The sheet metal body was built by Al Swedberg of Chehalis, WA. The steering wheel is a "fat man" style. It has a lever that releases it so it can be moved up and out of the way. |
The seats are 1937 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery as is the gas tank that will go in the car. |
In the picture below you can see the fat man steering wheel has been released and raised to allow easy entry into the car. |
