In the description of #40 'Mad Max' Murray tells the story of acquiring old number 40 that includes some pictures of it. Frank and Art Reichlin for it built a new body including a huge trunk. He burned the old body (which had a racing history) and collected the ashes. On the maiden run of the new body we stopped by the roadside, a small ceremony was performed (Ed Jepperson dressed like a pastor), spread the ashes on the ground and the whole lineup of speedsters passed over the ashes as they departed. |

Murray pays tribute with Jepperson and lots of speedster folks looking on. |
