Hydraulic Brakes

The most important thing is to have a safe car. I did all I could to have excellent Braking and Steering.

I converted to Hydraulic Brakes using parts from a 1940-48 Ford.

This conversion is fairly straight forward. The things I learned were :

  • Use synthetic brake fluid. It does not absorb water and rust brake lines.

  • Use a double master cylinder.... separate cylinders for front and back.

  • The brakes should lock up with less than 40 pounds of pedal pressure

  • Use junction blocks on the frame to connect hoses to the metal brake lines

  • The front are interchangeable, but the back are different left and right.
