Fender |
|
I wasn't going to build Fenders. Washington State allowed me to license it as an Open Wheeled car as long as I didn't drive it in the rain.... Then I began to see that it might be possible to build wood strip fenders.... so here is the prototype. It is not good enough. I built it on the form below. The good news -- it shows a fender can be built. The bad news -- Every strip needs to be steamed and clamped in place for 12 hours... and this form with supports every 30 degrees is inadequate... more frequent support is needed to avoid the flat spots in the prototype. Note the steam box made of ABS pipe on the wall behind. It is powered by an Electric Kettle that shuts off when it runs out of water. Fenders are in this car's future. |
